Plan the fit
Measure the usable depth and width of every tread, including space around edges and railings. Position each 11 x 30 in mat without folding it over a stair edge. Plan the cord route separately from the walking area.
Installation in four steps
Follow the supplied product instructions.
- Brush debris off the intended placement area.
- Unroll the mat, check the fit and position it flat; secure it only as directed in the supplied instructions.
- Join compatible twist-lock connectors as directed, after checking the combined electrical load.
- Connect the compatible GFCI power cord and use an appropriate GFCI-protected outlet, following the product instructions.
Do not cut or trim the heated mat. Keep cords clear of walking routes and inspect the placement during use. Snow-melting performance varies with weather, snowfall and site conditions; maintain uncovered areas and check for remaining snow or ice.
Compatibility and limits
Connect only compatible SEAL stair and walkway mats using the specified twist-lock connections. The combined load must not exceed 13A per GFCI power cord or the limits of the circuit and supplied instructions. A second outlet may share the same circuit; do not assume it provides additional circuit capacity. Add the electrical ratings of every connected mat; there is no universal mat count.
The IP67 rating applies only to the compatible twist-lock connectors, not the mat body or the complete electrical system. It does not authorize submerging a mat, power cord or outlet. Assemble and protect connections according to the supplied instructions.
SEAL wheelchair ramp mats operate independently and cannot join this connection system.
Estimated running cost
Cost = (total rated watts / 1,000) x operating hours per day x days x electricity price per kWh.
Read this mat's wattage from its product label. For several connected mats, add all label wattages before using the formula.
Calculation example only, per 100W of rated load: an assumed 8 hours per day uses 0.8 kWh per day, or 24 kWh over an assumed 30 days. This 100W example is not this product's wattage or a price estimate for the product.
At an assumed US$0.17/kWh, that example costs US$0.14 per day or US$4.08 for 30 days per 100W of load. Use the unrounded formula with your actual label wattage and utility rate.
Examples assume full rated power for all stated hours. They exclude fixed utility charges and do not predict weather, operating schedules or automatic-control behavior.
Frequently asked questions
What size step is this heated stair mat for?
The mat measures 11 x 30 in. Compare both dimensions with the usable surface of each tread and leave the edges and transitions clear as required by the installation instructions. Do not assume every step has the same dimensions.
Does the stair mat include a power cord?
Mat With GFCI Cord includes the power cord. Mat Only does not; it needs a compatible SEAL GFCI cord or a compatible existing setup with sufficient capacity.
How many stair mats can I connect?
The permitted number depends on each mat's electrical rating and the available circuit capacity. Add all connected loads and stay within the 13A maximum per GFCI cord and the product instructions.
Can I connect it to a walkway or ramp mat?
Compatible SEAL stair and walkway mats can connect through their specified twist-lock connectors. Standalone wheelchair ramp mats cannot join the system.
Can I trim a stair mat to fit a narrow step?
No. Do not cut, trim or fold the heated mat to make it fit. Choose a suitable size before ordering.
How much electricity will the stair mats use?
Use the wattage on each mat's label, add the wattages for the full connected setup, then divide by 1,000 and multiply by operating hours and your electricity price per kWh.
Warranty and support
All SEAL heated snow-melting mats sold by WARMSEAL carry a 2-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Damage from misuse or improper installation is excluded. The warranty is separate from the 30-day return window. For support, email seal@warmseal.net with your order number, model and a description of the issue.
Returns and refunds
30-Day Returns If a SEAL mat isn't right for your space, you can return it within 30 days of delivery. All returns require a return authorization — email us at seal@warmseal.net with your order number before shipping anything back. Returns sent without authorization can't be processed.
Unused mats, original packaging — Full refund of the purchase price. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility.
Opened but unused — Refund of the purchase price less a 20% restocking fee. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility.
If something's wrong, it's on us. Damaged in transit, defective, or not what you ordered? Email us a photo within 30 days of delivery and we'll send a replacement or issue a full refund — including any shipping you paid. In most cases we won't ask you to ship the mat back at all.
What we can't take back Mats that have been cut, trimmed, installed, or used can't be returned, since they can't be resold. These are still covered by your limited warranty against manufacturing defects — the warranty and the return window are separate things.
Custom and made-to-order items Custom-size and made-to-order mats — heated snow melting mats and garage floor mats alike — are built for your specific space and can't be resold, so they are final sale and not eligible for return or refund. They remain covered against manufacturing defects and shipping damage. If anything is wrong with a custom order, email us at seal@warmseal.net with your order number and photos, and we'll work it out with you directly.
Refund timing Once your return is received and inspected — or once we approve a photo-based claim — refunds are issued to the original payment method within 7 business days. Your bank may take a few additional days to post the credit.
