Quick FAQs
1. What are SEAL heated snow melting mats?
SEAL heated mats are electric snow-melting mats for stairs and walkways. A heating element is sealed inside commercial-grade rubber, so the mat melts snow and ice on contact — no shoveling, no salt, and no damage to the surface underneath. They're designed to stay outside all winter.
2. How do I set them up?
There's nothing to install. Lay the mats where you need them, connect them to the GFCI power cord, and plug into a standard 120V outdoor outlet.
3. Do I turn the mats on before or after it snows?
Before, ideally. When the mat is already warm, snow melts as it lands and the surface stays clear through the storm. If you turn it on after snowfall, it will still work — it just needs time to melt through the accumulated snow first.
4. Can I leave them outside — and on — all winter?
Yes. The rubber construction is built for continuous outdoor exposure through the season, so there's no need to bring them in between storms. To save electricity, we recommend powering them only during and after snowfall.
5. How do I store the mats after winter?
Once the season ends, unplug and let the mats dry completely, wipe them down with mild detergent, then roll them up and store in a cool, dry place until next winter.
